I worked with BT Sport on numerous projects over the last couple of years, so when they approached me with the idea to put together a series of promos for the 2021 MotoGP that would have a fresh feel and attract a new audience to the sport, I was happy to take on the challenge.

The pop-culture reference at play here is, of course, Pixar's Toy Story, with the age-old question "What happens when...?" acting as the premise. So, we turned the iconic MotoGP riders into toy characters and asked ourselves, What happens at the track once the day of racing comes to an end?

I wanted to bring out a joyful sense of cartoon action, while ensuring that all five of the characters have distinct quirks and tones with a dash of an endearing superhero bravado.

The series was created and released throughout 2021 as the Championship progressed. It was an exciting creative journey that resulted in a 2022 British Animation Awards nomination.
